Programs

Household Hazardous Waste - This is a program in partnership with Tennessee Department of Energy and Conservation where residents can drop off and household toxic's and electronic equipment to be properly disposed of.

Electronic Recycling Event - In partnership with Goodwill Industries to offer residents and business an additional drop off for electronic equipment to be properly disposed of.

Funky Art Contest - In Partnership with WSCC Phi Theta Kappa. This is an art contest for 3-8 graders to make projects out of recyclable material.

Arbor Day Poster Contest - In partnership with the Tennessee Department of Forestry. Open to 5th graders. Due to schools by Feb. 27th.

Arbor Day Poetry Contest - In partnership with Hamblen Co. Soil Conservation Dist. and Morristown Tree Board. Open to 6th grade and high school. Due to schools by Feb. 27th.

Teacher In-Service - In-Service open to elementary school teachers at Myers Pumpkin Patch on Project Learning Tree. 6 credit hours

Litter Free/Recycling Events - Encourage all events in the area to be publicized as Litter Free. Support event planners in making it successful with support of supplies and literature. For help in hosting a litter free/recycling event please e-mail KMHB

Keep America Beautiful/Youth Advisory Board - This is open to any age group of students interested in making a difference in their environment. They are the role models for their school on environmental education. Act as their own working board, deciding what projects and activities they want to do.

Great American Clean Up

  • Power Clean Up - Largest clean-up event in area with numerous pick-up locations in Hamblen, Jefferson, and Grainger Counties.
  • Sack Pack - Clothing drive in Hamblen County schools in partnership with Goodwill Industries.

Beautification Awards - Awards given to residents and business who take pride in their property from a renovation, landscaping or clean-up. E-mail nominations to Kelli at kabed@musfiber.com

Christmas Tree Recycling - In partnership with TWRA. This is a collection of live/used Christmas trees to be used in the lake for fish habitats.

Sanitation Workers Appreciation Breakfast - In partnership with Cochran Family McDonalds. Provide breakfast for all sanitation workers to say thank you for the job they do!

31st - Electronic Recycling Event, Commerce House Parking Lot, 814 W. Main Street. Wednesday 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Items accepted: old computers, printers, paper shredders, electrical cable, DVD players, copiers, fax machines, telephones, stereos, VCRs, and cell phones. No Televisions, please. Those may be disposed of at our Household Hazardous Waste inthe spring. This is FREE for all residents, businesses, schools and churches!

December

December 26th - January 19th, Christmas Tree Recycling Event. Drop off locations: College Square Mall parking lot across from McDonald's and Panther Creek Park Maintenance Building. Please be sure to take everything off of your Christmas Tree before dropping them off. This is a free event to all residents, businesses, schools and churches!
